This is a view out of my shooting house.Thw lane is about 150 yards long, and about 15 yards wide.Runs north to sout more or less. Its a great place to kill does in the late season,or just a good place to sit on a bad weather day.

Any way,I usually just put some wheat and oats on it,but wondering wether any type of clover would work? Also, gonna work on widening it out a little each year.

Crimson clover is pretty shade tolerant. It has worked well in places similar to yours. Though, liming really helped it.

Leaves are the big issue that I see. When I've tried planting stuff in narrow strips like that, they come up great and then get covered with leaves and die. As far as the North South orientation, I've always thought that was best as it gets a good dos os sunlight part of the day from the Wintertime southern sun.

It does look like a good place to sit even if you don't see a deer!

Not too much leaf problem on this spot really, the oats seem to do fine, actually was thinking of getting a backpack blower, one quick trip during mid day sometime, and problem solved.
