I have decided to build my own AR and I have zero experience and have done a lot of research. My question is who makes a good quality stripped lower. The upper will be a 6.8. I am going to try and get the upper from AR Performance.

CMMG, Spike's Tactical, and PSA are good choices.

DPMS, RRA, Spikes, Roggio Arsenal have all worked well for me so far.
I really want a matched upper/lower from Black Rain Ordnance!
Good luck with your build. My ST is a 6.8spc and I love it. I'm thinking my next AR will be a 300 blackout.

I don't think it will make much differance what brand. I have been told they all meet the same mil. spect.

I even thought that there were only a couple of companies that even made them and then everybody else just inscribed their own names on them. I will tell you though, I used a Mil-spec "Surplus Arms & Ammo" lower on my first build. Took me a long time to sell it with that name on it. When it comes to resale people want a name brand.

Only the blemished ones are that low. I haven't seen that price on their lowers for a long while now.

I don't worry about the name stamped on the receiver as long as it meets, or pereferably exceeds, mil spec. Lower receivers have little to do with the overall function of an AR. When I build, the most important items are barrel, bolt carrier group, and trigger.

I agree it is crazy and I will not fall victim to the price gouging. I guess for now that I will only have the one ar that a friend built for me. In a few months I may be able to get a real deal on some of the stuff that is selling now for outrageous prices.

I would like to have an AR.. but I've always put it off because I couldn't justify the price for something I simply won't use (unless something crazy happens). Always been hard to justify spending 1k on a rifle like that when I could spend nearly the same amount and buy two handguns.
I had a stripped lower and some parts but sold it all about 2 months ago. Go figure.
Maybe I'll pick up another stripped lower if/when the prices (and demand) come down in a few months.

Build one you will use like me. I had an upper with a carry handle and such i traded for awhile back, i knew i wouldn't use it like it was so i bought an upper more suited for plinking and. Varmints.
