Well finals are finally over and for the most part I have graduated. Well earlier I was asking about employment with twra. Well I got some good news and I'm in a pickle. Well I work for the city parks and recreation. They are offering a permanent foreman job in the department to me. I decided to take it because fish and wildlife seemed like a dead end. Well I. The middle of my final this morn the project leader call and they got word from regional office they can give me a 1 year appointed job as a biology tech and when the year is up it can be extended or become a permanent position. My mind is made up with fish and wildlife but would y'all do the same thing?

Will you be happy working for parks and rec? Personally I would take the fish and wildlife job.

Not that it has anything to do with your question but, did you graduate from UT Martin?

Sit down and think about it. Sit down and pray about it. Look at where you want to be five/ ten/ fifteen years from now. What will make you happy and which career choice is the best fit for you? You are fortunate to have two very good options available to you.

Definitely pray and seek Godly counsel fo'sho'.
And, here's my 2 cents:
Forget the individual positions you are being offered and look at the industry of both as a whole. Which career path would give you more options or pay more money, etc? What if you end up really not wanting to be a foreman? Can you easily transition into another good paying career with the experience you have gained or can you easily transition into another job with parks and rec? Try not to get tunnel visioned into thinking about the (2) specific jobs that are on the table. A lot of times, in my opinion, a person is better to look at the industry or in some cases the whole company and make a decision that way. Let's face it in many places, in many industries, once you get your foot in the door and prove yourself many times the doors open on their own. I have a degree in business, got a job with a big name company you've heard of and the position was somewhat in the field of my degree, and now i work in a different field for the same company that doesn't even require a 4 year degree and has NOTHING to do with what I went to school for and I make a whole lot more money than the position I was in that required the B.S. and am happy.
