Col DeLapp with the core of engineers has now officially closed all the tailwaters to boats and fishermen on the Cumberland River system. If this doesn't bother you, it should. Here is a link to outline the restrictions.

This is a far bigger blow than fishermen think. It would set a serious precedent.
What happened to the open meeting he promised Lamar Alexander? It is not a done deal yet. At least that is my understanding. There is supposed to be an open meeting before it becomes fact. Note-they are finalizing plans, not they have implemented it.

What is the reason for the closure?

BW, according to Doug Markham the meeting is supposed to take place sometime in January and the public will be notified when plans for the meeting are finalized. Don't hold your breath. Doug seems to be doing all he can to protect our rights but in the end, he is just a fisherman like the rest of us.

I live in Carthage. Fish below the cordell Hull dam all the time best fishing on the cumberland. This is going to have a huge impact on more than just us fisherman. Id say atleast 75% of fisherman come to carthage to fish here. can we say $$$$$$ lost again? This is the dumbest thing the corp has done. They are gonna do what they want either way. Guess no bait either since u havent been able to access the wall since 2010.

Sad news. Just bought a new fishing boat with high hopes of getting below the dams. THis really ticks me off. More government. Welcome to america. 14 deaths in 43 years below dams? Really? What a joke.

Check out Doug markham Facebook page. Someone has now also restricted the (or trying to) the heartland area boat ramp on stones river. Getting plum stupid. That ramp is plenty big for big boats and no reason for it!

This ain't going to turn over well with fishermen
I have done a little fishing below the dams and am not about to give it up easily, and sure there are hundreds of other doe hard fishermen who practically live below the dams when fishing is good
