External growth on Deer

A buddy of mine harvested a deer yesterday & brought it over to hang in the garage overnight, I didn't even go out & look at him until today, he had a growth between it's front legs sagging down about the size of a baseball, will this growth hurt the meat? Or would you even eat the meat, there was no discoloring or anything of the meat but just thought I would ask before we smoked the shoulders.... The inside of the "TUMOR" was hard as a rock & black as coal... Anyone ever eat a deer with one of these before?

Meat will be fine, but finding tumors certainly can be disconcerting

I killed on a few years ago that had warts all over the deer. I was told if the warts did not go into the meat is was fine.

We've got a nice 8 pt on our trailcams that has the same thing. Huge growth at the bottom of his brisket the size of a grapefruit...
