shooting small buck

I let a small buck by me that had about 2 inch spikes, didn't think i could shoot it because it isnt a legal buck. Some guys where i work said you can shoot it and tag it as a male deer but antlerless. Is it legal to shoot a buck with spikes smaller that 3 inches.

not unless it is unit L or its a either sex day in some other unit.

Yes. It the antler or antlers is under 3" you check it in as a male buck antlers under 3" unit L

Mike243 is correct. Have to be 3" for it to be a legal buck, unless either sex day.

as a reminder, the seasons aren't for "buck" or "doe", they are for antlered or non-antlered.
If it was for male deer only, you'd have to check between the legs before firing a shot. There are some rare instances where does can grow antlers!
