Ok fellas I have a unfired rem 7400 30/06 that's never been fired that I'm in a position to trade for something to shoot coyotes with....
I'm thinking about trading it on an axis...
I know there are better rifles but I wanted the opinions on these to rig up for a 300yd coyote knock around gun, thinking about the .243

Keep your 7400. Or find a different gun to trade it on.

I have heard decent things on the axis (for the money).. but also heard the trigger is pretty lousy. If you did decide to trade it I feel like it would only be fair for them to throw ya like 50-100 bucks to boot.
if you are just hunting yotes with it what about a 223 or a 22-250? bolt 223s are pretty cheap

I own an Axis. The trigger pull is so difficult the barrel shifts off your point of aim. It is at least 9 or 10 pounds. There are plenty of videos on how to fix this for free but I am gonna go the 90 buck new trigger route. Why bother? Because it is an accurate rifle if you can deal with the trigger.

The trigger has always been an issue with the axis/edge rifles...replace trigger and it can be as accurate as any other savage out there
