I just purchased 2 of these trees as a Christmas present for my father who has been wanting chestnut tree's for years. I am curious how long it will take for them to produce nuts? Has anyone had this variety in the ground for a few years?

I plant mine 20-30 ft apart. Depending on your PH you can use an acidic fertilizer or just straight fertilizer. There again depending on your deficiencies in the soil. I like triple 13 twice a growing season, and maybe once during November-December.
I am sure others have preferences, and better ideas though.

Several Walmarts in TN actually had them this past spring (they are from the Realtree Nursery). I don't know if they will get any in next spring. I bought 6 of them, planted 2 of them and potted up the other 4 in larger containers until about a month ago when I set them out. One of them actually had 2 nuts this summer.

I paid 25 dollars each online, but the price goes down depending on how many you buy.

I believe they were $20 each, but they may have been a few dollars more. They were 6' tall and looked pretty good.
