....Ive got a new employee, who has a lot of issues doing what he is told. When lines are down, he knows he has to stay busy. But chooses to stand around with his hands in his pockets, when I approach him he just stares at me and then walks off. Now it has gotten to the point when I talk to him he will stop what he is doing and "swell up" and starts growling under his breath but he never says anything at ALL. I was told he has a brain injury from a wreck, I really dont want to fire him cause of Christmas. But this is getting to be an issue. Ive never had anyone growl at me before LOL What the world would you do LOL

Fire him. It will not get any better. If he did not document the brain injury with you/your company, you shouldn't take it into consideration. It is not an excuse just because someone told you about it. If the injury is documented, and it impairs him, and you know it, do you want to be in the situation when he snaps and hurts someone?

Christmas or not.....I would fire him.

I don't see this getting any better. You have to do what is good for business, and I wouldn't think growling at the boss would be good for business, lol. Seriously, I would have to get rid of him. I even fired one of my sons one time and my wife thought I was awful. But he did learn a very good lesson.

Yea its not going to get any better, I know what has to happen. I honestly just shake my head when he does it. Im not able to terminate anyone unless it comes from HR, Im just waiting on the paper work. But I sit here right now and just laugh out loud cause I have never seen anything like it.

Id can him as quick as he came in the place.

Theres a guy that works where one of my friends dads works at. The guys Dad had some ownership in it several yrs back and when he sold out the agreement was that his son always have a job there. The son is not right in the head, he rides a scooter year round, and is obsessed with cats.

They keep him as far away from a phone as they can because theres been several instances where the office phone will ring and he will answer it and instead of saying "How may i help you", he says "Meow". Kind of funny but kind of sad at the same time i guess. Had another buddy that worked there for a little while and this dude drove him nuts. He said if he wasnt hissing or saying meow to him he wanted to talk about his cats. My buddy is a very outspoken person no matter who you are and lets just say it didnt go over good \:D

That's funny. You should work for a family owned company. Family members showing up between 45 minutes to 3 hours late. I would hate to can him during the holidays.
