Do you remember that thread about that Tree Stump blind and how high it cost?

Well I got to see one first hand today. I went to Paducah Shooters Supply to check out a gun for Ruger and they had one of those blinds outside. It's really nice and it does look real. It's big and super nice inside but too high for this old boy. Funny thing is he's already sold some for Christmas and that's the last one he had.

A man could build his own as a summer project if he had the time, area for working, and materials. Build it to fit on a trailer so as to haul it to the set-up location.

All you have to do is frame it in out of wood, use screen/chicken wire and foam to rough in the desired shape and then cover it in fiberglass. Paint it like you want and you have a nice warm, dry, deer blind.

I see them advertised on hunting shows. Great idea, i guess. But since its not really portable it seems like you could just brush in a permanent ground blind and do the same thing plus keep several thousand dollars in your pocket. But thats just me, i guess.

You are correct. I've been building fake logs/trees for 20+ years. I make silicone negative sheets from tree bark and stamp them into concrete. I could do something similar for a grand EASY- that's including my labor. Not knocking them for selling'em. If you got that kind of money and want to buy it have at it.

You know the funny thing is, I set mine out in Early November in a picked bean field with no cover around it and hunted in it Dec. 1st. I had to press my head against the window to watch a couple deer pass by and they almost had to hit the legs on the way by. I was going to brush the legs in but never had the time, but had deer within 20 yards of the blind several times without spooking them.
