May be a dumb questions but im not a duck hunter. What is water raking? And I assume it's illegal to finish a duck from a boat?

There is nothing illegal about shooting ducks on the water. Some duck hunting purists think it is unethical to shoot ducks on the water.

As for shooting with the motor running that is illegal but it is your word against theres and I'm not sure a GW would even give somebody a ticket for just finishing off a wounded duck.

Nothing wrong with shooting ducks on the water.... the whole point is to get them in close.... if they sit down, well they liked the set-up.

Seems like a lot of wear and tear on a boat motor/starter having to start/shutoff while trying to finish off a cripple.... especially if they are diving on ya trying to get away....

No rule against shooting them sitting. I guess some consider it not as sporting but hey grandpa says it ain't sporting to hide in a tree and ambush deer when you could shoot them running in front of dogs.

And although you technically aren't supposed to shoot from a boat under power that's pretty much standard operating procedure for chasing cripples in open water with the whole wanton waste deal.

Duck hunting is a little different. Don't agree with shooting sitting ducks myself. No real sport in it. The other... Law says no shooting with the motor down and running but under the circumstances, not something I'm gonna flip about. Would rather them get them than lose them.
