can you shoot wolfs in tn there seems to be a black wolf hanging around were i hunt in chaple hill tn the guy that is logging there has seen it twice and the land owners said they saw it at the barn once up close and personal i said you sure its not a dog they seemed pretty sure it was a big wolf they said it has been around there for years but they don't see it very much ?

There are no wolves in TN.
There are some domestic wolf/dog hybrids that may have a high percentage of wolf in the mix, but we do not have free roaming wolves.
I have a friend that has seen similar down in that area. There appears to be a pocket of melanistic phase coyotes in that area judging from the pictures of some being shot around Chapel Hill. The best guess is your friend is seeing a large, black coyote. The season is open on coyotes year-round.

Black coyotes are everywhere, and are VERY common now.

That must be what i saw the other night. Are they black with a tannish under coat. I really thought it was a wolf!!

If I thought I saw a Wolf in Tn, it would be "shot-on-sight" as a Coyote!
