Im left handed and like a semi-auto rifle.Wanting a new semi that I can use for deer as well as varmits. The model I like comes in 270,308 and 30/06 and I think 243. Which of the first 2 would be best for varmits? Im not an enthusiast, not planning on shooting it 1000 times and just want to build a new gun, maybe a gun my kid can pop a deer with later.I wish I could find a semi-auto in 25/06.

If you're going to use it for kid deer use and varmints I'd go with a 243. They sell both light, fast rounds for varmints and heavier, harder hitting rounds for deer.

I'd go with a 270 without a doubt. I might lean towards the 243 for your kid because of it having less recoil than the others but in a semi-auto recoil is a lot less than any other action type so I'd go with the larger caliber(270). The 243 will kill deer but bullet placement and bullet choice is less critical as caliber goes up. And the 270 is a very flat shooting cartridge that is great for deer but will double for some casual/occasional varming shooting.
