Has anyone check with the police to see if the father's weapon can be returned??? We have many law inforcement officer on this forum. By rights the boy should have inherited his pa's weapon. Worth checking into. Are checks coming in yet Ruger?

I talked with Walter for about 10 minutes He was in decent spirits and has stopped carrying 700's due to what he reports as quality issues with the New models.
He recommended a CZ - which he's out of in .308 right now. He did have a used .308 - 700

If someone were to contact Bud's gun shop they might cut a deal on one given the situation. And I've had good dealings with Doug at Cameralandny.com if optics are needed. He's always quick to give me a discount when asked. May be wrong but I'd bet he'd go $300 on a Zeiss 3-9x40 given the circumstances.
