Yup, they sure can grow some big ones in Wisconsin. They've almost owned the recordbooks in the past.

And the funny thing is, deer hunters in Wisconsin slaughter the yearling bucks! From 2008 through 2010, the buck harvest in WI averaged 51.3% yearling bucks. That's 10% higher than in TN during the same period.

So it's all about age? Don't think so...

Actually you can argue that it is about age. Wisconsin's gun season is so short that most people go out to shoot the first deer that they can. Not to menton that some areas a doe has to be harvested before a buck. There is a higher chance bucks can live longer. Wisconsin is mainly a bowhunter's state anyways.

Sorry, but they don't live longer. Over half of all the bucks killed in WI are yearlings (and WI hunters kill a lot more bucks than TN hunters do). TN hunters do much better than that.
