I think it's very interesting to see all these deer and turkey pics over corn...everybody says corn just there to get pics..then we see "harvest" pics of those animals... I kno in KY if I am getting pics of of certain animals over corn when the corn leaves so do the animals....but yet it seems in TN the critters apparently still hang around after bait is gone. Seems odd to me..just saying!!

I really don't care either way to be honest.
The one thing I do know is that corn is being used on a large scale. My local walmart has gone through 7 pallets of it so far, and that doesn't take into account Co-Op or TSC.
With 1 or 2 Officers per county, it can't be enforced, stopped or even slowed down.
I wouldn't use it, but it's a loosing battle to enforce.

I would rather a GW be taking care of a poacher or road hunter than watching a corn pile.

I bet your GW would tell its nearly impossible to catch someone baiting without the help of other hunters....make it legal and let everyone decide for themselves if they want to do it....@ $20/100lb it is expensive..

I may be mistaken, but baiting is still illegal as of present, and when they catch baiters, they still get some revenue from the citation, don't they? GW's I know are glad to get the help from other hunters on game violations, regardless of their perceived importance.

This was not a thread on legalize or not but a thread on how Nebraska has addressed the issue that many of us TN hunters have to deal with. Especially in east TN we have to hunt small properties. ie. 12 acre wood lot, 9 acre mini farm. If any of the neighbors feed deer it makes 90% of these properties unhuntable... And if they feed deer on both sides of you then you are crap out of luck. Nebraska put one simple exclusion in their no baiting to state it can not affect you from hunting your own property or property you have permission to hunt. I think it is a great addition to regulations and should be added to Tennessee's....
That is all..... Carry on.....

Never understood the pile method. I have a friend in Ky that spreads it out, similar to how you spread grass seed for your lawn. Deer come in and browse and hang around.

I would bet that atleast 50% of hunters bait excluding those that only hunt public land. I know all my neighbors that hunt bait.
i would say you are wayyy off on your 50% estimate. if you know all your neighbors are baiting, have you reported it?
