Moultrie Black Flash

I don't really care about the plot stalker function.
Has +10 ft of range
$10 cheaper but requires 6 batteries which will be moore expensive

Primos Black Flash

+2.0 more megapixles
I've never had a problem with my other Primos

I'm leaning towards the Primos as I really don't need the extra range.. I usually just put my cams on scrapes, salt licks, corn, or other things to get them close rather than plots or large travel routes.

Has anyone had a problem with either model?

My Tasco isn't working anymore and I want to try Black Flash.

I have had two moultries and the flash went bad on both of them. Love the primos that I have.

The Primos Black outs are awesome! but the funny thing is they advertise as having no trigger noise.I own several cameras, last year i picked up my first primos"no trigger noise" never knew a camera could click so loud. None of my cameras make noise but the primos cams. Black Out is a great cam

I tend to lean more towards Primos for nothing more than customer service. Primos has been nothing but top notch in customer service and I have had issues with customer service with Moultrie on more than one occasion. When dealing with trail cameras it seems that it is not if you will need customer service but when!

Master Chief,

I would lean towards the Moultrie. The 2012 models are really getting rave reviews. I've had major problems with their earlier models, but so far, the 2012s seem to be good cameras.

I'm still torn between the two. I don't run cams much in season so I got time to decide.

I have a couple of the Primos35 and have been pleased with them.
just recently 1 has stopped taking night time pictures, It takes a pic but is totally blacked out image.
sent in a ticket to Primos online and they want me to ship it back to them to repair or replace.

I have no problem with that except a friend of mine had his do that back in September and they sent him the new Ultra35 and didnt even ask for the broken one back.

I mentioned how I'd be out my camera during the peak rut when I really look to use one, They just said they cannot send out a camera without the broken one.

Unfortunately, Moultrie ruined their welcome with me a long time ago and I won't buy anything from them ever again.

I still haven't bought another Moultrie, due to my past negative experiences. But hey, manufacturers change over time. A company that made crap cameras one year can suddenly start making good cameras. Look at Bushnell. Their first few years produced horrible cameras. Now they are one of the better manufacturers. Quality can also go the other direction. The first two years under the Cuddeback name, they produced some of the best digital trail-cameras ever made (C1000 and C3000). Everything since has been crap.

I got a couple moultrie black flash this year and I like them a lot. Not the best night time pics but that's what you get with a black flash from what I understand. Good illumination just a little fuzzier than I would like...

I recently looked into affordable black flash cameras.

That TruthCam Blackout that you linked is the older model. It is big and will make a clunk noise when it fires. The new smaller version is the TruthCam Ultra Blackout.

You can get it for a very good price here: Primos Truth Cam Ultra Blackout

"If you are looking to purchase a no glow infrared camera for under $200, the two highest rated cameras are the Moultrie M-80 Black and the Spypoint BF-7. While the Moultrie takes a better day photo, the Spypoint BF-7 has a slightly quicker trigger speed and the night photos are much sharper. This camera excels in either security or wildlife applications."

Trailcampro.com: Moultrie M-80 Black Review

Good price here: Moultrie M80 Black Flash Game Spy Camera Camo

Trailcampro.com: Spypoint BF-7 Review

Good price here: Spypoint Bf-7 Black Flash Digital Camera Camo

If it were me I would get the Spypoint BF-7. The Moultrie M-80 BLX would be my second choice. I wouldn't consider the Primos Ultra Blackout. It has too many poor reviews online.

I have a Blackout and don't necessarily like it. I thought it was great at first...til my wife got us a cheap Truth 35 cam. I think it's one of the better cams out there right now (the older Truth 35) because it actually picks up a bit further than they advertise it at...vs the Blackout that really don't take that great of pics at night (if the critters are walking, they are almost always too blurry to see any detail). Day time pics are awesome though.

I am not a fan of the black flash or IR cameras. I wish more companies were still making white flash cams. I'm not a Cuddeback fan either, but they are just about the only ones still making a white flash cam.

I will put you in my Blackout for a good price if you still want one of those...got a new Ultra 46 too that I will sell ya for $100 even and it's practically brand new.

The end of season sales are starting on hunting gear. If you have not purchased yet then you can get the Moultrie black flash on sale here for a pretty good price:
