Put a Kennedy's face on the signs. If government is going to tell us about how cars kill, they need a posterchild Nicely done!

Obviously they are making you think about it. I have no problem with them. There are way bigger problems to worry about then a road sign.

It's called, "increasing awareness"! If it saves one life (of which we will never know) it is worth it. The message is there as a part of the Governor's Highway Safety Office traffic safety program. When people think and drive, they are more likely to be safe drivers. If people would slow down and be more safe when driving, we would not see the signs. The messages went up when the number of fatalities began to show a dramatic increase this year and it was apparent that it was going to be a deadly year on Tennessee roadways. This great program has helped save lives and provide law enforcement agencies with additional funding and training. The program has proven to be very successful. Trust me, it is no fun at all to have to notify any family that they have just lost a loved one or loved ones in a traffic accident, especially since most accidents are preventable.

They aren't anymore distracting than the thousands of billboard signs along the interstate or reading bumper stickers on the other cars. At least you don't have to turn your head to the side to read them. Of course the ones that really need to be paying attention to them are the ones that are on Facebook's mobile apps while driving. Probably on there griping about the signs on the interstate being a distraction to them. Hahah

I think those signs should tell how many mountain lion sightings we have in TN every year. Much more interesting...
