I use the 1/8 or 1/4 oz head according to where I am fishing and water depth. Don't just reel it straight back... Pump it a little. I've been sight fishing smallmouth that would let you just reel it by them all day and not bite... A few pumps and they kill it.

The spider slider heads are costly... But you don't loose them like regular heads since you rig it weedless.
I know a store around here that has a lot of the slider stuff, and only have one pack of the 1 inch grubs with the paddle tail, and need to buy some more. I'll have to get the next size up of grub and look for those spider heads you mention. Thanks for the tip, oh and you forgot to mention the finishing touch is to wear a Reel Daddy shirt....

That's right! I use the 3-5 inch grubs for the most part. I'm sure there are tons of other colors that people use but for around here, it's hard to beat those two colors. I caught a couple of 4 pounders this spring on the grub from the river/creek.

river went up today so I hit this creek mouth where I usually catch some bass with a fat albert.

water was about 2 ft higher than I like and I only stayed for about 20 mins in the cold without enough layers or gloves to be comfortable. Not one bite, saw some buffalo rolling the surface though, made me think of trying that as a winter carp fishing tactic sometime. I will be hunting tomorrow morning but if I get the chance between hunting and work I will try and wet a line down there again since the water should drop a couple feet overnight.
