Would be nice to have night time predator hunting.... No different than doing it in the day.... have to use common sense and follow the laws... so what's the issue? x5,000
far as I know, coyotes are vermin and I would not be opposed to baiting for coyotes using meat and/or carcasses. I know you can shoot one over a gut pile of a deer you gutted, but would be nice if you could actually put out some meat just for the coyotes at night and thin your population a bit quicker.
I have been hunting only 2 years but you would think I would have shot a coyote by now, nope, they are either out of range or I don't have the gun, and I don't see em very often.

Sorry to hijack, but many on here are under the impression that you can thin your coyote population out by shooting. In actuality, you will probably not make a dent. It takes significant time and money to even begin to make a dent in the population. The only ways that have been successful have been very intense trapping scenarios over very large areas, and that is not feasible in this part of the country.

true, but wouldn't shooting 5 or 6 over bait at night be a little better than shooting 1 coming to a call in the day?

My BIL says coyotes trap easy. He got into it thinking he was going to make a killing with the hides. He didn't have the skill necessary and the hides were not worth selling.
Reason why you can't hunt at night for vermin is because these stinking poachers would hide behind that cover. Remember, they are criminals.
Is it legal to poison armadillo's?????

that's why its rimfire only, for coons and opossum, they should include armadillo and coyote too. restrict the weapons at night so that the deer poachers cant hide behind the varmint rule.

A lot of what I have read says poachers use rimfire weapons, dont know how true it is, just what I have read.
