If this buck is indeed 2 1/2, he greatly illustrates Wesley's High Grading Theory! \:D

He's 2 1/2 or older.

You're high-grading theory was dead on the money on my place this year! We picked off the top 2 1/2 year-olds pretty darn quick this year. In fact, we had picked off the top three middle-aged bucks within a week of MZ opening.

And I'd bet you have several small antlered 2 1/2's that have been passed up numerous times by multiple hunters? \:\)

I've now determined the best way to protect a top-end 2 1/2 from harvest is to shoot off one of his antlers, as the one-antlered bucks (even the mature ones) seem to get a pass from most hunters. \:D

Yup. A couple of bottom-end 2 1/2s have already been passed 2 or 3 times. Guess who is going to live to 3 1/2 and who isn't!

Guess who is going to live to full maturity and who isn't!

I'm seeing more and more 4 1/2-yr-old plus bucks that are 6 & 7 pointers instead of mainframe 8's or better.

One of the "above average" 2 1/2's I was tracking, he got into a fight with an older buck, who broke off one of the 2 1/2's antlers. That "above average" 2 1/2 was then repeatedly passed up by several hunters who didn't want to shoot a "1-horned buck". This year he is a 140-plus class mainframe 8-pointer, but no one has been able to get him (yet). \:\)
