Just bought my first one this yr. Have to say I am enjoying it too, like a kid at Christmas! After leaving the darkside and stepping up to technology LOL! Have the same does for the most part, four of them every once and a while two more will show up. Have four immature bucks that have only been seen by the cam. One I think has potential. So far he has made it through the season. Continue to keep my fingers crossed that Split Shot makes it! Thinking of buying three more that way I can watch and hopefully catch more deer that I had no idea even existed. Any suggestions on cams? Is it better to buy new or is used ok too?

You can't beat a homebrew but it really depends on your budget and what you're looking for.

Homebrew? Never heard of these any info or website to look at. How expensive are they? I have a Moultrie 65 spy cam now and I like it. Budget hmmm guess the best bang for the money. Going to get three more may not get all at one time.

Jef II- I have to admit I can barely stay away from my camera, will definitely scoop up a bunch come post-season sales. I have pictures of at least ten different bucks and more does than I bothered to count. While most of the bucks are small forkies, there are 4 or 5 that will not survive if we get our way.

Jeff - Homebrews are cameras made by hand by someone. Most people on here will say Fireman Jim makes good ones. However you are looking at ~$200 a pop for those.
As far as low budget ones, the Truth Cam 35 has been great for me. They are around $80 and the batteries will last the entire season and then some.

Homebrews are made by rewiring a pocket digital camera to trigger off a motion sensor. Because they are made from pocket digital cameras--which have high-quality digital imagers and lenses--they take FAR better pictures than commercial trail-cams, which use the cheapest digital imagers and lenses the manufacturers can find. Although, to be honest, some of commercial cams are starting to take some pretty good daylight pictures.

Thanks fellas. For now think I'm going get some commercial cams as Dave said they will be going on sale soon. Get them and on over in the new yr. get a Homebrew cam. Would love to see the pics it takes. Does it show info like commercial ones? Thanks BSK for the info on Homebrew to . I am definitely intrigued now.
