Combination of weather and a cancelled hunt will possibly translate into a much better hunts next year.

A lot more deer survived the hunts than usually do. Next year should be a banner year out there........if people show up and hunt. I bet less than 50% of the people drawn showed up for the hunt this weekend.

Diehard, I saw 10 deer on the scout day. Go back and see 0. I didn't show up yesterday. The weather was horrible. Every Dec hunt I've had before this one it's been lows in the low 20's, highs around 40.

ARE YOU SERIOUS???? How in the world do the deer become radiological contaminated? I know it's Oak Ridge but how does this happen? Contaminated water? Food?

My point exactly. There was a lot of human activity in the woods on the scout day, getting the deer up and moving. Take away that activity and the deer do not need to move. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. The belief that the warm weather has the deer chained to a tree keeps hunters out of the woods. When hunters stay out of the woods, they do not have to move. When they do not have to move, sightings drop.
I had a stand where they were coming and going from feeding to bedding and I saw plenty. I would have no doubt seen more if there had been more people stomping around in the woods.
I blame the poor results on a lack of hunter pressure, and I blame the lack of pressure on the weather. If people had shown up for the hunt, they would have pushed deer. When deer get pushed, people get shots. When people get shots, they push more deer.
Deer do not vaporize when it gets warm, they just do not move as much, unless they have to.
