I was part of a lease about 15 minutes from Cleveland for several years, and enjoyed it. You can get to public land as well, some of it, like the Cherokee Nat'l Forest area, can be rough as a cob, and presents the challenge of figuring out those mountain bucks. It's a great area!

There is some good deer hunting around cleveland lot of it is private lands which you have to aquire permission . There are a number of wma's with in a couple of hours that have public hunting . Like Nimrod said the Cherokee National Forest in the Applachians is right there with a lot of land in the mountains , it can be tough hunting with lower deer density but some real brusers . Your best bet would be to try and get on a good hunting lease with in an hour or so from Cleveland .
My wife and I wound up with 4 acres on the Little Kennebec Bay in Machias Maine back 5 or 6 years ago in a crazy deal . Been there one time and was surprised to see deer sign all oveer it .
Best of luck !!!

Welcome to Cleveland. The deer population is strong but a lot of the land is private.
