I've been looking for some Federal Lake City M855 ammo. For you that don't know that the 5.56 militry ammo with the "green tip".

Everybody is sold out. Before the election they were selling for $379-$399 a 1,000 rounds. The only thing everybody seems to have is some ammo made in Denmark and it's selling for $375 for 750 rounds.

I was on another forum and someone posted of a place that has some IN STOCK. I had been checking that place like the others every week for any new shippments and they had been out until I saw this link on the other forum. I hope this is NOT the "NEW" price for this ammo.

As always, lower the supply, raise the demand, the price goes up. I have a suspicion something is going on somewhere somehow, Obama's czars are reducing the manufacturing.

I've had a different caliber on back-order from Cabela's now for months. It was "in stock" when ordered, quickly changed to "now on backorder". I keep getting emails that Cabela's anticipates getting it "in stock" in about a week. This has been going on now for months, and it's not an uncommon round.

Something else people don't think about.

If we DO go over the "fiscal cliff" one of the things that will happen is the automitic cuts will come out ACROSS THE BOARD.

One of the major cuts will be the US military. Federal Ammo has already stated that if the cuts happen then their military orders will get cut back causing them to lay off workers. They have already done several studys that show the citizen market while strong will not make up for the lost military contracts so Federal ammo WILL scale back, that easy will cause prices to climb.

Looking like U.S. ammo manufacturers are going to have a harder time competing (price wise) with foreign manufactured ammo. Could this be a back-door approach to reducing firearm ownership?
(Hey, if you have no ammo, less value in owning the firearm.)

Make ammo more expensive, and mainly only available by import from foreign manufacture? Then outlaw the imports (without specifically outlawing the ammo)?

Ammo prices have been rising for some time now. And will continue to do so while obama is in office.

If the demand of ammo gets cut this can have a shot term reduction in price then followed by a increase in price. The reason is the overproduction will have to be sold that lowers the price but then when the production is adjusted to the new demand the overhead or fixed cost are spread over a smaller amount of ammo. That will be the increase of cost.

As far as making us made ammo more expensive that is what we do by adding business taxes, environmental regulations, and worker regulations. When that cost raises the cost of production over the cost of shipping then we see the ammo made across the boarders.
