Speaking to a lawyer is good advice, keeping to yourself is even better! I know what was done was wrong, but you cannot fight something like this with out losing your job. Even if you have a labor union with arbitration Tenn. is a right to work state. All it takes is job performance issues, attendance issues or what ever the company can trump up on you to lose your job. I have been a supervisor for 6 years @ a company I have been at for 21 years. We have a labor union but when it all comes down to it....the company all ways wins. sorry your having troubles keep your head up.

You could argue the treatment you received. Time has passed and it will be difficult to prove anything. You may. But, it will be difficult.

As far as the other guys, they will not and cannot discuss the discipline they did or did not receive with you. You can jump up and down scream, yell, and complain all you want but they will not and do not have to share the records of another employee.

The only way to KNOW what the reprimand was would be to sue in a cour of law, supoena those records (if a judge allows it). Then you got to ask yourself, "Is it worth THAT?"

IMO let karma take care of it !! As my signature says..... You get back what u put out and they will. Not trying to push the bible on you but if you would read Psalm 37, I think it would give you some comfort in this situation. Best of luck what ever you choose to do.

It stinks quiet a bit though just because it involved me personally and having so much taken away (not just $ but the bid rights especially...had to let a lot of jobs go by over the year that could got me on day shift) and then just recently finding out about them not getting so much as a stern talking to.

Coach -- There's not a physical handbook anymore. When I first hired in they had one they gave to us...but that was many moons ago and the current "handbook" is what I referred to as being on the computer in the office. They don't give those out anymore even to the new hires; just give them an orientation class with how to access the computer up front. It is there to look at...if you are on day shift and can find the time to do so. They don't inform us of any policy changes...there explanation of this to me, was that since it is openly available to look at on the computer, that it was OUR responsibility as associates to periodically check in on the computer to see what was new...and not THEIR responsibility to inform us of changes. I will be honest with ya...when sitting there in the hot seat before a firing squad that holds your job's fate in their hands, you don't exactly wanna get too sideways with them lol. I was counting my blessings at the time that I didn't get fired when it was all over with.

Ha..I understand not wanting to get "sideways" with them...and I'm sure they counted on that. Especially, if you are an "at will" employee (fire you for no reason bascially)

I'm wondering why they drew such a hard line with you, unless they just dont like you for some reason. I can understand them giving you either a verbal or written reprimand, but it seems like they went way overboard with their 'punishment'.
If you like where you are, I'd just smile and realize somethings in life arent fair. If you dont like where you are I'd quietly look for something else.
As far as the other guys, their situation is their concern and doesnt really involve you so I'd just not worry about them.
And remember- a man that works for himself doesnt have those issues. Just planting a seed there...

Welcome to the real world. I'd agree it's attorney time if you want any satisfaction but don't expect to keep your job and even if you do it won't be pleasant.

I will add a few more points to this. If you did think you had a solid case against the company, and could prove past practice, not being informed, unjust/unfair/unequal treatment as per the company policies. And you could prove you had loss of earnings/advancement, etc. You could stand to see alot of money paid for damages................I won't even get into the mental aspect of it. If you really have no intentions of staying with this company very long now. By all means, contact a lawyer for a sit down and tell your story, they will flat out tell you if it would be worth it. Remember, they will have to provide documentation as well.
