IMO this should be changed, they should be legal to kill at night like coons and opossums, but with no limit. Since they are mainly a nocturnal animal. I rarely see one during the day and last time I did, I had to poke it with the barrel of my 30-30 because I was on a big game quota hunt where small game was closed for the hunt. Them nasty things ought to be killed day or night. Not sure what your opinion is SCN, what you say?

I would think that shooting a firearm at night on ground level would be too dangerous.
Most opossums and raccoons are treed at night before they are shot.

x1000!
I would love to be able to eliminate a few of the armadillos that root and tear up everything around the house. It would be one thing if they were native to our area and provided some benefit, but I can't see that they are anything but an unwanted pest. I have heard that they help tear up fire ant hills, but I can't tell that there are any fewer of the hills in my fields than before the armadillos became common about 7-8 years ago.

I can tell you that they move a lot faster than you think they can! One night a few weeks ago I saw one rooting around beside the house, so I grabbed a piece of 2x4 and snuck around the house to come up behind it to eliminate it. I got to within about 10 feet when he picked up his head and saw me, made some kind of hissing noise and took off across the yard. I have a fiest that is able to chase down squirrels, and I don't think she could have caught the thing as fast as it was running.

several states allow hunting for predators at night. shooting up into the air is just as dangerous.

X2 shooting up in the air is probably more dangerous than shooting flat

Would be nice to have night time predator hunting.... No different than doing it in the day.... have to use common sense and follow the laws... so what's the issue?
