Has anyone on here ever used bettles for European mounts. I am thinking of purchasing some and wondered if they were worth it or was it just as good to boil them

Lots of work to keep those little boogers happy. They stink really bad. I boil again.

Been there, done that....Lost alot of $$
They are VERY environment sensitive. Too much moisture, a little cold snap, a power outage, etc and you lose a years worth breeding, feeding, and work is down the tube.

If you have a lot of skulls to do, beetles are the best. If you only have a few, boil them. If you have everything set up correctly, beetles can save you a ton of work. If you try to cut corners you will be replacing beetles a lot.

I always kept mine in an old freezer that was not plugged in. Cut a whole in the side with a fan to circulate warm air into and out of the freezer. The freezer will keep cold out as well as it keeps it in.

I want some of those Scarabs from that movie the "Mummy".
Then I could train them to look at trail cam pics and go after the bucks I want.
No field-dressing or anything, just put a Lo-Jak on one and pick up my skeletonized trophy.
Maybe I had to much coffee this morning.

I have a deer skull and a bobcat skull that I have been boiling. I have about 6 hours worth of boiling time in them. The bobcat is done, probably another 2 hours on the deer and I should be done. Boiling is very time consuming along with 10-15 dollars of propane. I just wonder if I would have been better off with the beetles, I am pretty cheap though.
