puter started this few weeks ago. When you turn it on the monitor come on but after a few seconds it shuts off. Then it must be unpluged and computer shut down before it will power back up, computer or monitor dont know with is bad.

The computer shuts off? It could be your power supply if your computer won't power up.

monitor shut off, computer still runs but you have to shut down puter before monitor power lite will even come back on and you have to unplug monitor and plug it back in.

When it goes out, see if you can get the menu on the monitor to come on. Even if the video card (on the computer) is out, the monitor should still work it's internal menus.

CRT or LCD Monitor? I've seen it several times with LCD's Swap Monitor out and it will be fine.
