By design, he rarely blitzed or rushed the passer. 100+ tackles and 7 picks. Nobody has done that in years. Notre Dame would have lost several games without him. Look at the final top-25. Johnny Mugshot beat one top-25 team and lost to the other top-25 teams he played. Not sure why I'm even bothering to present facts. They mean little to the SEC fan club.
Except for maybe 3 teams, Te'o did it against nobodies..... Ole Johnny did it against the SEC and the future N/C team. Once Bama blows ND up, This will be no debate.

SMU, S. Carolina State, Sam Houston State, Arkansas, Auburn, Missouri.
6 awful "nobodies" that Manziel beat.
3 wins against average teams (MISS ST, LA TECH, OLE MISS)
2 losses to good teams (FL, LSU)
1 win against a good team (ALA)
The only top-25 team that Manziel beat is Alabama.
Again, if you look through the thick SEC fog you will see the facts.

Manziel got in a fight at a bar and had a fake ID. Sounds alot like my freshman in year college. I doubt anyone on this board can speak to the character of any of the three finalists with any credibility. Add another stat in Manziel's favor - the only player at the Heisman ceremony with a mugshot. Hopefully he learns from it and stays out of trouble.
