Woods or field this afternoon

It's kind of windy. Should I set up in the woods with thick undergrowth or in the grown up field that has most of the deer beds and thickets. If I hunt the field it will be from the ground with tall grass or small shrubs for cover. Ill probably set up on a heavily used trail I have seen (bare dirt showing) but are they less likely to use the more open terrain in the wind? Help me decide.

Getting late in the season and warm today. They will probably hit the field right at or after dark. I would get back in the woods about 50-75 yards on the heavily used trail you described.

the heavily used trail is smack in the middle of 40+ acres of grown up field and thicket with no woods. the whole field is a spider web of deer trails but I remember seeing one that was more worn down than the rest. there are some woods bordering the field and that is my other option to set up in my wooden stand in the woods but I'm not sure.

I am in the same scenario right now. I chose woods. 50 yards off a scrape line.

Ok I'm set up in my chair in the field, just had to pick a spot based on fresh droppings on a trail and a couple of rubs. Bushes around me for cover so I can stand up and draw the bow. I actually sat here back in archery season in the morning and saw nothing. But evening is when they come out in the open.
