I really think there is a golden opportunity for the mechanically minded.
Retro todays "modern" vehicles so you aren't stuck with all the computer nonsense.
Strip out all the big brother junk. 02 sensors and crap like that. Figure out the very minimum necessary to make your vehicle run well and leave all the other stuff out.
Get your vehicle reclassified as a "farm truck" or something like that to avoid the inspection issues.

Seems to me that if you have a social security number, and/or a drivers license, anyone can find out just about anything about you at all.

There is more technology in the phones we carry today than it took to put man on the moon......... i think they can crunch all the data that they want to. Very scary IMO They have satellites that can read the date off a dime from space. Our government can do 100x what they say they can do and u can bank that!!THe government is creates a problem so that we search for a solution and they conveniently offer the solution they wanted you to use in the first place. Kinda like the laxative company also makes the toilet paper ( hypothetically )
