I have kept crickets for long periods of time in the large plastic storage bins you buy at walmart. They can't climb up the sides. I kept them in the house and kept water and cut up potatoes with them. I just placed the dividers that came in the cricket box in the storage bin.

You can use an old aquarium with a screen door on top.

I've been wondering the same thing! I live on a lake that is full of big black bream, and I have 2 places to buy crickets within 10 minutes, but every time I go pay $4 something for a whole tube of crickets and they short me I get whizzed off. I don't mind paying for a full tube everytime I go, but if I pay for a full tube, I want what I paid for!

So, if we buy the 1000 crickets, the orange food, and a plastic tub at walmart, I wonder how long they would stay alive and would they start to stink?

Swamphunter, Click that site I posted and look around on it. The stinking comes from their poop and their sheds. Simply clean it out ever so often and keep it dry and they aren't supposed to smell that bad.
It was interesting reading about their "new" strain of cricket and how hearty they are etc.
They also have a cricket box that will hold up to 500 of the 1/2" crickets.
Oh and 1,000 crickets is CHEAP compared to buying them at the store. I have learned alot and have sent them an email as I saw something about "dusting" the crickets. Not sure what you dust them for and what you use.

Onions... That's what I feed them. They stink but they catch fish. Put a chicken water bowl in there with them... And add a light for a little heat when cool.
