Wasn't going hunting in the morning but something told me I needed to go check out my hunting area. My brother owns the land on one side and my aunt owns the land on the other side. Neither has given anyone else permission to hunt back there. Right across from where I normally park was the backbones, ribcage, and part of the hide of a whitetail. Looks like a poacher has been in there since last weekend. Buzzards had picked the bones pretty well clean.

A couple of weeks ago I was coming out and saw a white pickup driving in. The other driver's face had a surprised look like he didn't expect someone else to be there. He stopped and turned around and came right back out behind me. I didn't recognize his face and don't know if he is the one who killed the deer and left the evidence right in the open.

Don't form conclusions too quick. If it was that close to the road why didn't the poachers take it with them? And that sounds like it has been dead for a few weeks instead of a few days. That white truck may have been throwing out a carcass of a deer he processed that he killed somewhere else too. Who knows?

The area where this is is a backroad that my family owns the land along both sides and at the end of the road. One of those places where the only people who have business that far back are the owners. I was there last Saturday and the carcass wasn't. Didn't see or smell a gutpile but the contents of the stomach was laying close by along with a rope.

If someone killed and processed it somewhere else, these are some white-trash trespassers considering they dumped the remains right beside an obvious fire-pit.
