My teenage daughters found this little guy a few weeks ago on the side of the road. They thought he was hit by a car and needed rescuing. I put him in the shed and the next day he was still in the same spot. I contacted a raptor rehabilitator from the list TWRA provides.

Made the girls follow through with calling, setting up time/place to meet, and transporting the owl to her.

Beautiful bird

Pretty cool. The one I have been seeing is more white and gray and quite a bit bigger than that one. He probably stands 15-18 inches tall when sittin on a limb. Cool creatures though.

Couple years ago I had an owl land in a tree about 50 yards from me. He was huge. He looked around and found me (full camo, bow season). With about 3 flaps of his wings, he flew by me so close I could feel the wind from his wings. He flew by me and never took his eyes off me. Scared the dookie out of me but it was probably the coolest thing I've ever seen in the woods.

i had one land about 30 yds away one morning at daylight. i made a little rustle in the leaves to see what he would do. after a few minutes, he flew over my head and on through the woods(i thought). i heard something in the tree above me and looked up to see him sitting on a limb 3 ft. over my head contemplating whether i was too big for breakfast. i no longer mess with the owls.

another instance, i was in a treestand with a bent over sapling on my left. it moved before daylight! i got my light and lit up a screech owl less than 2 feet away. if that thing had screamed, they would've found me hanging in my harness dead from a heart attack.

fishing a deep cove on melton hill early one morning, i heard a disturbance on the bank behind me. a great horned owl(those things are huge!!!) had a snake pinned down and was looking at me like " if you think you can take my breakfast, bring it on!!!"

Think I remember a couple years ago somebody posted about one landing on their head before daylight at Ft. Campbell. I have had them fly within a few feet of me, as awesome as they are I don't know that I want them too much closer. LOL
