I'm puttin my money on it's a bad recpt. that has been stabbed in the back instead of hooking the wires onto the screw. See it all the time in houses with that kind of age in Shelby county. It's a faster way for guys to wire houses. Shoot me a PM if you want.

Replacement went well, but it still doesn't work. Guess I'll call an electrician. \:\(

Have you pulled and checked the nearest outlets? I'd bet on it being a loose connection on one that feeds the inoperative outlet.

Sounds like the fridge did it because of a power interruption.

I'll check the nearest outlet this afternoon. Others have mentioned this possibility but I don't think I understood what they meant till now. Thanks.

one black one white and a ground.

So that outlet is the end of the line (alot of time they may be upto 6 or more outlets on a single breaker,,,and if that one has only 1 set of wires in it then thats the last outlet. So start with the one behind the wall and see if the wires are going into the back of the outlet rather than around the screws. If so with the breaker off replace that outlet and wrap the wires around the screws. The white wires go to the silver screws and the black wires go to the bronze colored screws. and the ground or bare wire goes to the single screw on the bottom of the outlet. You still have my cell # so give me a call if you have questions....
