A buddy of mine showed me a bullpup rifle a few months back.
Been buggin me ever since. Anybody got the scoop on this type gun? Hows it rate compared to the AR platform? Calibers? Any makes/models any good?

A bullpup rifle allows for a full length(16") barrel and still be maneuverable in close quarters w/o sacrificing velocity and energy of the round. Bullpups are as expensive as a top tier AR, in the 2k range. They are accurate and reliable. My favorite is the Steyr Aug A3. FN makes two, the FS 2000(5.56) and the PS90(5.7). The Brits mil issued rifle is a bullpup, the SA-80. There are civilian versions of the first three mentioned and I think there is a bullpup AK. Juggernaut Tactical makes a bullpup chassis for the M14/M1A.

Really loud and a lot of muzzle blast because the muzzle is so much closer to your face/head.

Also, the position of your head on the stock puts it right against the breech area.....kinda makes some folks a little leary.

In the Army, they teach us to put our nose on the charging handle on the M16/M4 when firing. So no more danger in that than what we do.
