So lets say it was a leg shot. He was my biggest deer i have on camera at this spot what are the chances of getting another shot at him?

Slim....Unless you track him and finish him off. Now he is going to the safest place he knows, to either bed and die or bed and recover.

Go to the nastiest thickest place on the property and look there, if there is a place like that near water even better.

Did you run out of blood after 400 yards? I think that I would still be looking. It sounds like a leg hit, but you never know.

Where you able to find his hoof tracks...... shot 1 the other day that wnt 400 yards and the last 100 was following just hoof tracks

Leg would be my guess. Backing out and waiting is the mistake. Leg shots can be recoverable but youhave to keep them moving. Running is even better. If it is a high leg, better chances that a low one. By letting im sit, chances are slim.
Go with either the beagle or Catman.
