I also have an 870 and for an all around cheap price but a do all gun this is a good Choice! I've about worn mine out to the point when I shoot a hot shell it throws the next round in the hold and jams but for the price as long as its lasted its certainly hard to beat!

I'd spend $800 and use the other $200 for accessories !

I do not know of anyone who can day in day out "handle the recoil on a 3 1/2" gun", and i can prove it to you if you want to shoot 100 shells in 1 1/2 hours, think about it

You didn't really specify, you gotta have 3 1/2" or will a 3" work fine. Just wondering, I just had to have a 3 1/2" gun and after testing I figured out there really was nothing I could do with a 3.5" that I couldn't do with a 3". This matters because there are some really good 3" guns for well under $1000. If you go 3 1/2" you got to be careful if you want a all around gun, because some won't kick 2 3/4" dove loads even if they claim to. But even then I know 2 that will that are a whole lot cheaper than a benelli and are super reliable.
