I have killed 1 and lost 1. bullet placement must be perfect there is no room for error.

Buddy shot a big 10 with one last year. Almost let him get away with a good shot.

I just can't see using such a rifle. I'd at least step up to a 243 or 6mm Remington. Yeah, If you use a bullet like the nosler partition and only take perfect shots it might get by and kill a deer. But why risk a crippling a deer? And could you really hold your fire if a really good buck presented you with a bad angle for a shot? The only shot you might ever have at him? I just wouldn't take any 22 centerfire deer hunting. I love them for varming shooting....they are my favorite cartridges but they are special purpose cartidges! OK, I'll get off my soapbox. \:\)

I agree. The 22-250 is my favorit round but I would rather use something a little larger on deer. This an't Texas

Depends on the twist rate of the barrel. I think 22 cal is plenty for our deer but I want to sling some 60+ grain hunting bullets their way. Really a 223 with a 1:8 twist is perfect.

If your going to use it, it all depends on shot placement. My brother had one quartering way (but not bad) shot with a .223 w/ 65 grain seirra gameking. Good placement but the deer was lost. My dad about two weeks later shot the same deer and found my brothers bullet under the skin of the deer. So...I would at least use 80+ grain quality bullets in a fast twist barrel, and take only the best shots.

Shoot em in the head works everytime. I'm going to use my 17 hornet to take a doe or two. I do agree shot placement is critical.
