You are required by law to have your license on your person. A smartphone shot doesn't meet the statuatory requirements.

I thought of doing this but decided I had enough personal info in the phone.

You are required by law to have your license on your person. A smartphone shot doesn't meet the statuatory requirements. I was aware of this but it brings up a question I have had. If you are checked by a warden and then realize you accidentally left your license at home, is he most likely gonna write you up or is it more to his discretion? I carry my license in my wallet so it's very unlikely but if I forgot it somehow, I have my TWRA ID memorized and hope the officer would understand the mistake.

The statute requires you to have your license on your person. It will depend on the officer on how he/she decides to handle the violation if you don't have it.

I had forgot wallet one day fishing and was checked. The officer just called in my SSN and the read it back to him. Was no problem and he let me off the hook. He was a really nice guy about it.

I would have thrown the ugly book at you for that, but it is obvious that someone did that already and that is probably why he let you off the hook! LOL
