Only way to positively ID a big buck is to get a pic or lay eyes on him! Tracks and poop can be very deceiving!

Yup, could be a spike with big hooves. I shot a nice 4.5 yr old buck this year with smaller hooves than a 1.5 yr old 3 pt a guest shot on my farm.

that is not true, diet dictates that. Im with cat on this one.. when field dressing bucks are clumped..does are like black jelly beans.. corn..same diet.. mainly corn.. I do know in bovines..100% that bulls are clumped and cows splatter

No hogs in this area that I know of. There were many smaller deer tracks in the immediate area - presumably does. The big tracks really stood out dramatically from the rest of the tracks. There was also a large, active scrape nearby on the edge of the field. I remember watching a show earlier this year where Stan Potts said that big tracks usually mean big bucks.
