I bought my son the youth model .410 for his birthday this year. It was the only gun I could find that really fit him. So far it has been a good gun. The thumb hole stock really helps when he shoulders it. Not a bad gun for the price.

My buddy has the 243.. I got the h&r handi rifle for my daughter.. the rossi seems a little cheaper made and wobbles when you break it open.. but it shoots and groups good.. i would go with the H&R if i were to buy another single shot

Have you shot it at 200-250 yards? I shot mine off a lead sled with several different ammos. Past 100 yards it wasn't consistent at all. I did hear if you bought 10 of these guns you might get one that was accurate. Maybe you got the one.

There are so many factors that affect accuracy. I would recommend the coin test. Put your rifle in your sled, balance a coin behind the sight. If you can pull the trigger and the coin stay in place 9 out if 10 times you have a better chance of being consistently accurate. Minute movements behind the trigger translates into huge variations on the target. If you can do that and still have issues at 200 or even 300 yards then I would suspect mechanical malfunction. For some real fun start off with a heavier coin and then move to a lighter one.

One of them being trigger pull, and these guns have very heavy triggers.

My honest assessment was these guns are heavy triggered and poorly blued, but for the money make a good 100 yard gun. I now know, they are short barrelled, heavy triggered, $200 tack drivers and I'm just a bad shot. Live and learn.

Swamp hunter... I found that the one I got for my kids had a better trigger pull than my Stevens 200 even after the 4lb trigger job....nice crisp and broke cleanly...maybeI just got lucky
