you saying the black deer aren't pretty then?
not at all. just that it was a political move to protect the albinos and had nothing to do with rarity or biology.

They're more common in certain areas, almost nonexistent in others.
I hunted an area in between Austin and San Antonio, TX for several years where it wasn't uncommon to see one or two each year.
I have a brother who killed a melanistic doe and I had the hide tanned for him.
