Tagging Question

In the rare event that I ever kill a deer in TN, do I simply fill out my tag when I kill the animal or do I need to attach it to the deer in some way? I know in some states you must attach a kill tag to any animal before you move it. Is this the case in TN?

You just have to fill out the tag and DO NOT have to attach.
We removed the requirement to attach it to the animal when we added the online check in. Tags from license agents and check station were a tear-resistant, waterproof material that could withstand being drug through wet stuff and not ripping going down the road. Computer paper from online checkin doesn't have those characteristics.

And that is a great change it is nice to be able to mark your tag as you are still in the stand and put it back in wallet so you do not forget it.

i agree. i've had some in years past that you could barely make out after dragging through the woods.

This is so different and I like it so much compared to Wisconsin, where you have to fill out and attach the tag to the deer before any movement. They go as far as its wrong to conceal the deer before its registered, in other words you cannot move the animal in the bed of your truck with the tailgate up until it has the metal tag on it. It's a huge pain in the rear end.
I was worried about how I did everything when I shot my first TN 2 weeks ago, but it went so smooth, great system in place.
