I have a 30 foot pull rope and I try to find a tree that will let me pull it tight..... I feel the higher you can hunt the better. Helps with not having your movement picked up and also helps with scent control.....

20 is preferred, right now I'm between 15 and 20 ft, but as some of you know I was at 50 ft on Sunday. My pull rope ain't that long so I had to sling my gun on my back to climb that high.

if i hunt in a tree which is about 50/50 i'm in a ladder stand and it's 18 foot off the ground.
