No Simpler: most go into the woods and have a set of pruners + or a small hand saw. GOOD! After dressing the deer look for a straight branch about 3-4inch in diameter and about 4-5feet long. make two small cuts with ur knife through their tarsal gland then slide pole thru both hope this has helped as much as it has for myself. Long rope and my pull bars on the truck. Don't care how far, just run the rope around a tree attach to deer and put truck in reverse.

I have a length of webbing with a handle made of a 5 inch length of 3/4" pvc. having a handle makes a difference.

That is the only way I do it. I have a folding saw with me at all times in the woods for this purpose only.
