First of all, I applaud you for being able to marry into this family and create a good relationship with the two children. That speaks volumes about you. Secondly, I get excited when I see deer while out hunting squirrels but to get excited over a squirrel sighting while hunting deer is a little more of a challenge for me and probably for him as well. Thirdly, if you have been hunting since archery season and have continued through the rut then probably you and the property could use a breather. Lastly, he may sense your confidence dropping a little and be losing interest. I wouldn't push him to go if he has lost some of his zeal. Besides if you go by yourself and come home with a deer in the back of the truck you will probably teach him as much about perseverance as if you would have dragged him into the woods against his will. Just my thoughts

As warm as it has been, go fishing for a few hours.

I'm in the exact same boat... My "son" is burned out on deer hunting, no deer being see is boring to a 7 yo. This weekend we are headed to Arkansas for a duck hunt and some "man" time.
