Got offered a promotion at my job that will more than likely double my salary. Its mine for the taking, but might take up to 2 yrs before it comes available. But im just glad that they think enough about me to offer me the position.

Was told today I need to be thinking about going to school for some business management and accounting classes. I have never had a desire to go back to school. Did 1 semester of college after HS and just didnt care for it.

But if its going to come down to me getting the job or not, i will go back no questions asked. And my company will pay a pretty good portion of it.

My question is how long does it take to get an Associate degree? Is it a 2yr degree? Theres a college about 35 miles away that offers a 1 night a week class here at our local high school and im going to check into that and also some online classes.

any info on online classes and student financing will be greatly appreciated.

Im 25 and figure if i gotta do it i need to do it asap

Get your butt in school...especially if the company offsets the cost. You may not work there the rest of your career, but no one can take the education and experience you get away from you.

going back to school is easy if the money is not an issue, you will quickly see how stupid the rest of the world is

How long it takes depends on how you score on placement testing. Remedial classes alone can take some people a year. Check into an adult education degree. It works different than regular students and is made for the working class person. I was able to go from a AS to BA degree in Management with Trevecca in 13 months.

look at some of the local collages offer a mix of online and in class courses. If you are getting a degree in accounting I would get a bs I went back after the military and you will see most of your degree classes are a lot easier but your math may take some time to remember. I just finished my masters a few years ago and now just got a 15% pay raise this month. One thing is you take your experience and work record and add a degree or two you can not go wrong. Exp if they will pick up some of the cost, the state paid for half of my masters.

Ok, here is the simple answer. Stay the course and make what your making forever with marginal pay increased.
Take the plunge and a chance with the company picking up most of the tab and double your salary.
You lose your job in two years now and you start over where you are.
You go to school and it doesn't work out or you lose your job down the road and
start over as a manager or whatever your schooling prepares you for.
My point is, they like you and think enough of you to offer.
You take the classes and are a success and you double your income, you take the classes and don't like it, your the same place you are.
NO BRAINER, get your A$$ in school....
