When I am going to get Euro mount done I cut off the head before it goes to the processor. Stuff can go wrong when they have a large quantity of deer to deal with.

I've had a processor "loose" a deer head my self. They lost my business and my family and friends for life and will get a bad recommendation from me to everybody that will listen!
There also the reason I started to process my own deer and have never looked back.

That's why I never leave a good buck at the processor. I will wait to have it caped or do it myself, or cut head off for euro mount on the spot. Sorry about your luck. Jakeaway had one taken up our way several years ago.

1st deer my son got when he was 12 we took to a processor/taxidermist in lewisburg & they closed down & lost his 1st deer- i am still pissed about that one!

I know its a drive for you in your area, but I would consider adams taxidermy in anderson co. I know its a drive, but a lot of guys from all over east tn use them. Because they make some of the best summer sausage and deer stick you will eat.
Adams sucks too....they don't care about the quality either because he has let it get 'too big' imo...
If u like more hair than meat...yeah go to Adams

Not to mention u will be missing about a 1/3 of your meat and what you're given is more likely mixed with someone else's deer

Wow that sucks!!! Especially them losing the head to.. Indoor know about you but I tell them I'm going to sit there at the shop till they cape my deer out.. I wouldn't leave without the rack, head or cape.. I had the same thing happen a couple years ago except they let my cape sit out without being cooled for days and when I took it tithe taxidermist it was ruined...
